What to Wear for Natural Couple Portraits
Simple styling ideas that help you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourselves.
By Alex Morgan

Start with comfort
If you’re tugging at a hem or wincing in new shoes, it will show. Choose pieces you can walk, sit, and laugh in. Comfort lets you relax, and relaxed people photograph beautifully.
Choose colours that sit well together
You don’t need to match. Aim for two or three tones that feel like they belong in the same room: soft neutrals, muted greens, warm earth colours, or deep classic shades. Avoid large logos and very busy patterns that pull the eye away from you.
Think about texture and movement
Linen, knitwear, flowing skirts, and a jacket that can be slung over a shoulder all add life to a photograph. Fabric that moves in the breeze gives us natural moments to work with.
Dress for the location
A coastal path, a city café, and a mountain meadow each ask for something different. We’ll talk through the setting in advance so your outfits feel at home in the place, not fighting against it.
Bring one easy change
A second look is never required, but a simple swap, such as a different top or a coat for later in the evening, can add variety without breaking the flow of the session.
A final thought
The best outfit is the one you forget you’re wearing.
